Name
Advocating for Yourself at Work: Understanding Reasonable Accommodations
Date & Time
Saturday, June 13, 2026
Sarah Norton
Description

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) gives employees with disabilities important rights in the workplace, including the ability to request reasonable accommodations that help them perform their job duties. This workshop is designed for adults to understand what reasonable accommodations are, how the ADA protects them, and how to request the support they need in the workplace. Participants will learn what qualifies as a reasonable accommodation, how their own conditions may make them eligible, and what steps to take when talking with employers and healthcare providers. Through interactive, hands-on activities, attendees will practice identifying helpful accommodations and develop skills to communicate effectively when requesting documentation and workplace support.
